A new role of freedom of information officer has been created in our award-winning Communications and Engagement team working in the NHS and blue light services on a permanent basis.
As the new freedom of information officer, you’ll have the opportunity to put your own mark on the job and ensure that the public have access to relevant information we hold by coordinating all requests made under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with other people, is enthused at the thought of interpreting data, embraces using different skills throughout the course of a day, has meticulous attention to detail and a determination to deliver a high-quality service.
Our ambulance service provides 24/7 urgent and emergency care for people across the North West as well as the NHS 111 service and non-emergency patient transport. The ambulance sector and wider NHS are rarely out of the public eye so there is significant opportunity to increase understanding and awareness of our services through information sharing.
You will work closely with the senior communications manager to manage correspondence, interpret data and draft responses to requests. And, as a key member of the team, you will take a proactive approach information sharing, be that through responses to FOIs, via the Publication Scheme on our website, or by supporting colleagues with data gathering to inform the next big public campaign.
This is a busy role requiring a proactive professional with excellent communication skills to join a friendly team at the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, based at our Ladybridge headquarters in Bolton. The team currently works a hybrid model of 2 days in the office and 3 days from home on a rota basis.
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
