Procurement/Category Assistant - RQ1132008

Are you passionate about navigating the complexities of procurement to drive efficiency? Do you excel in offering professional advice and support across diverse procurement functions? In this role as Category Assistant, your responsibilities will encompass managing third-party expenditure, conducting detailed research on products and services, and providing technical assistance to enhance procurement efficiency. Your contributions will be fundamental in maintaining compliance and optimising procurement strategies.

Your Duties:

- Collaborate with the Strategic Category Manager and Category Officers to deliver high-quality procurement and category management, focusing on value for money and compliance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of available frameworks to optimise procurement strategies.
- Lead the end-to-end tendering process for assigned projects, managing and evaluating tenders, coordinating responses, and reporting on results.
- Assist in procuring goods and services through frameworks such as the Crown Commercial Services, ensuring efficient tender management.
- Provide guidance to departments on effective procurement processes, overseeing the contract register to maintain compliance.
- Monitor local versus framework procurements, analysing their rationale and outcomes.
- Aid in developing, implementing, and reviewing procurement guidance and procedures, adhering to EU public procurement regulations.
- Support the implementation of procurement training programs throughout the council.
- Manage and maintain procurement databases and information on council platforms.
- Stay updated on procurement strategies, systems, legislation, and procedures, providing relevant insights to departments.

Your Profile:

- One year of experience providing procurement guidance internally.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks including report drafting, file management, and archiving.

Additional Information:

- Full-Time, Temporary.
- 37 hours per week.
- Location Belfast City Centre.
