**Job description**:
**H**ead of Portfolio Office**

The Head of Portfolio Office will help the Agency to meet its ambitions, through a coherent and well-governed portfolio of work that spans the Agency’s ambitious, multi-million pound corporate plan.

The postholder will drive Agency performance, by assessing the portfolio’s progress and outcomes, and guiding the senior leadership team’s response to new challenges and priorities.

They will build strong relationships and insights across all Agency activities, to provide a clear picture of the portfolio’s effectiveness and influence the changes that will improve the Agency’s organisational health and impact.

This role is aligned to the Portfolio Manager Role (G6) in the Government Project Delivery Profession’s Project Delivery Capability Framework

**Person specification**:
The postholder will lead the UK Space Agency’s Portfolio Office, maintaining its core business while delivering changes to strengthen its capabilities and services.

**Key responsibilities**

A summary of the main responsibilities includes, but is not limited:

- People & Leadership
- Lead a team of 15 Project Delivery professionals, communicating and building commitment to a shared vision and sense of purpose.
- Drive excellence across their team, and embed a kind, inclusive and empowering culture that fosters staff development and innovation.
- Advise senior leaders and staff about how effectively the Agency is managing the portfolio, using their insight and expertise to drive improvements.
- Support business areas to take decisions independently and take the lead in their area of expertise.
- Project Pipeline
- Work with business areas to identify and categorise new projects for a decision on entry to the portfolio.
- Governance & Reporting
- Ensure there is a clear governance framework and reporting regime aligned to Management of Portfolios best practice.
- Co-ordinate reporting, assuring the quality of reports and providing relevant analysis and insight about portfolio performance and resources to inform senior decision-making.
- Business Cases & Assurance
- Support business areas to produce and secure approval of business cases, access relevant specialist input and meet best practice.
- Oversee the Agency’s corporate and portfolio assurance framework. Ensure there are a coherent set of controls that drive compliance with rules, standards and best practice.
