Senior Energy Officer

At present, a third of Anchor’s locations benefit from communal heating systems (heat networks), and this is set to grow on our pathway to net zero and adopt clean, efficient communal heat networks across our stock as part of a wider retrofitting strategy.
The Senior Energy Officer leads Anchor’s energy services to provide effective oversight of and improve the day-to-day performance of communal heating and hot water systems and heat networks for those networks remotely monitored by Boiler Management Systems.
The role is also responsible for developing and transforming the energy service to drive improved efficiency and performance and prepare the service for growth and change - including responding to incoming regulation from 2024/2025 onwards and managing a steady increase in the volume and complexity of heat networks arising from Anchor’s new build and retrofit programmes.
This role is pivotal to driving and demonstrating progress towards greater energy efficiency in our residents’ homes and reducing carbon emissions in Anchor’s greatest source of emissions (existing homes). The role leads data gathering and monitoring of energy use and is responsible for working with colleagues across Property & Assets to develop the right initiatives to help reduce energy use in our residents' homes.
**You have**:
- Recognised energy management qualification (such as energy Institute Level 2 EMP or Level 3 AEM) or degree in energy or environmental studies
- IEMA membership and/or qualifications
- Knowledge and passion for environmental sustainability, heat networks and retrofit in the housing and property sector.
- Remote heating controls (preferably Coster and Tridium systems)
- Energy Management software and carbon reporting
- Knowledge and understanding of energy services and heating systems, building energy performance and fabric-first retrofit.
- Strong project and people management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management in complex stakeholder environments
- Commercial & business acumen
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to act on own initiative, lead and adapt to change.
- Strong IT and analytical skills, data and evidenced based thinking, analysis and meaningful reporting.
**It would be great if you also have**:
- Knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework surrounding Anchor’s housing and care operations, including building safety, care and housing regulation.
- Awareness of project and change management practices and approaches.
