Job Description for Languages Lead Practitioner
Responsible to: SLT Link

Job purpose:
To carry out the functions of an outstanding teacher in accordance with the Baines School vision to contribute to achieving outstanding outcomes for learners in French and Spanish. This includes supporting the raising of standards of student attainment, achievement and progress within French and Spanish. You will work with all relevant staff to develop high quality learning experiences for students of all ages and ability. You will work with the Heads of Department to establish a clear, shared understanding of the importance of high-quality teaching that engages students and enables them to achieve their full potential.

Responsible for: Identified teaching staff and other relevant personnel within the languages department

Salary : Lead Practitioner Scale points 1-5

**Essential Qualifications**
- Qualified teacher status
- Relevant Degree

**Desirable Qualifications**
- NPQML / Masters degree or equivalent further study
- Specialist Leader of Education (SLE)

**Essential Experience**
- Be able to demonstrate successful / effective leadership in improving teaching and learning of Languages and this leading to improved outcomes
- To have taken an active involvement in departmental improvement planning
- To have implemented and developed a successful leadership initiative in languages

**Desirable Experience**
- Experience of teaching in more than one school
