Rotherham Opportunities College is a Post 16 specialist college supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities to live a happy and fulfilling life. The college is looking for a tutor who will be responsible for the planning and delivery of an aspirational, multi-sensory curriculum to engage and accelerate progress for students with PMLD, autism and complex needs.

As the tutor you will be expected to:
Assess and monitor progress for students with PMLD, complex needs, regulation difficulties, behavioural and communication needs.

Help create an exciting multi-sensory learning environment that allow students to explore their environment is a way that is appropriate to their context.

Establish trusting and productive relationships with students.

Act as a role model and set high standards and expectations for all students.

Be able to use and progress a variety of communicative approaches including Intensive Interaction, Alternative Augmentative Communication, Makaton.

Make effective use of assessment tools to plan meaningful learning and next steps and to record progress of students.

Promote independence and use strategies to recognise and reward achievement.

Promote student’s personal, social, physical, emotional and academic skills and knowledge through a fun and motivating curriculum based on Preparation for Adulthood.

Manage and direct support staff in sessions, effectively.

Use ICT effectively to support learning and progress of all students.

Able to engage in Physical Restraint training and use the training if required.
