- To prepare, cook and plate food to a high standard for Residents and Staff adhering to a planned menu and based on the needs of Residents;
- Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
- Collaborate with the Catering Manager to prepare and plan meals
- Maintain accurate food inventories
- Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
- Rotate stock items as per established procedures
- Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
- Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitised at the end of your shift
- Prepare and plan meals for a fixed period with the Catering Manager.
- Ensure a balanced diet is achieved from a variety of menus.
- Ensure foodstuffs are probed for temperature readings and only served if correct temperature readings are obtained.
- Ensure fridge and freezer temperatures are recorded daily.
- Maintain kitchen equipment as specified by respective manufacturers
- Ensure cleaning regimes are in place, regularly reviewed and vigorously applied.
- Supervise catering assistants and ensure that they understand their duties.
- Facilitate inspections of the kitchen by statutory authorities who have a legitimate right to inspect the kitchen.

Baker duties:
To prepare ingredients and make a range of attractive baked goods for the frail elderly residents in our care home.

1) To undertake basic home made bakery for our care home.

example : preparing short bread, selection of sponges tray bakes ,gateau, scones, birthday cakes, meringues, pavlova, Bread and butter pudding.

2. To prepare ingredients and produce a high standard of baked goods using utensils and equipment available.

3. To leave finished goods in paper cases where appropriate and to cut up and store items such as tray bakes in air tight containers, ready for distribution to the residents.

4. To provide home baking for 88 residents with a variety of items such as scones, tray bakes and small cakes/ fruit cakes as required.
