**The role**

We’re looking for a talented and ambitious Social Work practitioner to lead our Social work and Family Support team across the West of Scotland to provide maternity cover for up to a year.

Our team provides supportive and therapeutic care to children and families living with life shortening conditions. We aim to support families throughout their journey to improve life experiences and reduce stress factors. The core purpose of this role is to build, nurture and maintain resilience in families.

Leading a multidisciplinary team, you will provide holistic support from pre-birth right through to bereavement for the referred child and their family. Using a child and family centred approach, you will support families in the most difficult of circumstances, building connections and relationships like no other.

**The specifics**

You will lead and manage the Social Work and Family Support team in the West of Scotland. This is a multi disciplinary team comprising of:

- Social Workers
- Child and Family workers
- Activities Coordinator
- Family Income Maximisation Officers
- Transition Workers
- Energy Advisors

Effectively collaborating with internal and external partners, you will act as an expert, providing advice and guidance on all aspects of social work and social care, including child protection and adult support and protection.

You will ensure a comprehensive, holistic assessment is undertaken for all children and their families to review their needs and desired outcomes on an ongoing basis.

You will work closely with the Family Support team based in the East of Scotland and the service manager for CHAS outreach services to ensure we meet the varied needs of the children and families needing our support.

You will advocate for families and work with external agencies to find practical, responsive and creative solutions, including support within local communities.

Leading and motivating a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure they are appropriately supported and developed through high quality supervision (including monitoring, evaluating and managing the teams’ caseload).

You will have extensive and up to date knowledge of Child protection and safeguarding and will deputise for the Safeguarding lead.

**About you**

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive approach and can do attitude. You will enjoy building relationships and working in a collaborate way to achieve the best outcomes.

You will have significant experience of working with children and young people with complex care requirements, along with experience of dealing with child protection and adult family protection. You will be confident in providing specialist advice to other professional bodies and agencies in relation to child protection matters.

You will have significant experience of leading, motivating and managing a multiprofessional team to deliver great results. You will be inspirational in your approach, with the ability to organise a diverse workload.

You will work with autonomy and be accountable for decision making. With a curiosity for learning and thirst for development and improvement. You will have up to date knowledge of legislation and policies underlining best practice for safeguarding children and adults at risk

You will have a degree in Social work or social care and have a current registration with the Scottish Social Services council, along with a post graduate certification or equivalent in child protection. You will have in depth knowledge of GIRFEC and UNCRC and embedding them into practice.
