We are currently working with a fabulous and inspiring school in Hanley, which is tailored to help and develop pupils with special educational needs, who are looking for a nurturing Speech and Language Therapist to join their ever-growing team The school pride themselves in providing the most beneficial learning and experiences to ensure pupils have the best opportunities in their educational journey and later life. Their aim is to provide each student with the most positive opportunity in obtaining their own goals; this may be in gaining qualifications or important life skills. The school age ranges, from 5-19 years old and the school caters for many young people who come from mainstream education that need additional support, as a mainstream approach doesn’t suit how they learn and grow. They have a more personal and tailored approach to make sure that pupils feel as comfortable as possible in their learning environment; by referring to teachers by their first name and pupils not having to wear a uniform and encouraging students to express themselves by their hair colour, piercings and much more.

The ideal Speech and Language Therapist will have the following attributes:

- To hold a Speech and Language Degree Therapy/Qualification
- Ability to complete Speech and Language caseload for three special schools
- To be enthusiastic and nurturing
- To be able to deliver training to other staff members
- To build strong, long-lasting relationships with young people
- Can communicate effectively and efficiently with young pupils
- To be resilient and patient in their approach
- The ability to read body language and moods
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable for the needs within the school
- Able to promote and encourage independence where possible
- Capability to promote the development of positive social behaviours and self-regulation skills
