**School based IT Technician**

I am recruiting for an experienced School IT Technician to work within schools in and around the Doncaster and Sheffield area - making scheduled site visits to schools and act as the IT Technician for those sites. You may have to a number of different customersduring a week and may be required with short notice to change your schedule to meet the demands of the business and visit multiple locations when issues cannot be resolved remotely. You will be exposed to many different school IT environments so an abilityto troubleshoot and use your own initiative are a key part of this rewarding role. The School IT Technician is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with strong customer service skills and experience problem solving, to join our ambitious andfriendly organisation. A strong foundation of IT server and infrastructure is required.

The School IT Technician will:

- Provide effective and efficient communication across all levels of the business
- Provide 1st line support to all users of technology
- Follow up with customers to ensure full resolution of issues
- Set up, deploy and re-image desktops and hardware
- Ensure anti-virus updates and Microsoft Security updates are kept current on school networks
- Understand and advice schools on:

- Web filtering software and its set up
- E-mail filtering software and its set up
- Firewall set up and safe access to external 3rd party resources
- Install software as directed and in accordance with licensing legislation
- Perform installations of peripheral devices
- Provide general maintenance, troubleshooting and technical housekeeping of networks and peripheral devices
- Diagnose system errors and other issues
- Set up printer hardware
- Liaise with 2nd line on server issues to ascertain fixes
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory and asset register of IT equipment
- Maintain network user accounts, profiles, permissions and the addition and deletion of users
- Provide support and assistance, to teaching staff when using IT equipment
- Carry out other duties that are in line with the purpose and grade of the job
- Maintain each school’s network, including management of daily backups, anti-virus tools and software licences
- Manage and maintain the school’s LGfL 2.0 WAN connection, and act as a Nominated Contact for the school
- Act as a liaison between the senior management team of the school and the business
- Feedback to sales on cross and up sale opportunities within the customer base

The essential skills for the School IT Technician include:

- Strong background within the IT support industry
- Troubleshooting experience
- MS Office experience (with MS Access preferred)
- Mobile technology (tablets & smartphones using Android & IOS)
- Networking fundamentals (LAN, WAN, Switches, DHCP & DNS)
- Ability to identify hardware/operating system problems and provide a simple report
- Active Directory Management
- Knowledge of filtering and safeguarding software deployed and its uses
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Windows based software
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 20012, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Professional, Apple & IOS operating systems
- A demonstrable knowledge and experience of PC and Server technical support
- MS Office experience (with MS Access preferred)
- Networking and Communications Troubleshooting experience
- Active Directory, Group Policy and Server builds and configurations management
- A demonstrable knowledge and experience of PC and Server technical support
- Microsoft Windows operating systems and their use in a local area network environment
- Cisco and D-Link networking technology
- An ability to work closely as part of a wider team and communicate effectively with senior professionals with good verbal and written communication skills - Ability to read and assimilate a wide range of information
- Good organisational skills
- An ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workloads appropriately

All applicants for this School IT Technician must have a full up to date drivers licence and own vehicle and have working experience within a school as IT support.

The School IT Technician offers a salary up to £30,000 per annum, 23 days holiday + stats, and pension. Most of the visits within schools will last for half a day and appointments are pre-booked by the office team. For further information on this positionplease call Claire Lukey on.
