Irrigation Operative

Sandfields Farms Ltd is one of the UK’s largest fresh produce suppliers to the major retailers, growing over 1000 ha of salad crops.
We are recruiting a full time Irrigation Operative, a role that is varied. During the growing season you would be required to operate large scale field irrigation equipment; and during the winter/off season, you would be involved in farm estate maintenance and the servicing of farm equipment.
Specific experience or qualifications are not required and we would provide all job specific training and any guidance you need to succeed in your role, but you would need to feel confident operating large sized irrigation equipment, both on the public highway and in field environment.
Any previous relevant experience will be taken into account when setting the rate of pay.
Irrigation can be a challenging role during hot, dry periods. As such, during the growing season, any applicants should expect to be busy during their working shifts and be open minded towards overtime and weekend work to achieve our goals.
Having a can-do attitude towards work and the ability to motivate both yourself and others around you are qualities that would serve you well in the role as we are a small team who support one another.
Field irrigation can be both challenging and rewarding for those who take pride in their work and want to develop themselves. You will be given the opportunity to develop your problem-solving and time-management skills and possible access to career progression.
It is essential to have a full driving license, with the ability to speak and understand English.
Basic contracted hours are set at 40 hours/ week plus overtime.
As a new irrigation operative with no previous experience, £10.80 basic and £13.75 overtime which achieves on-target earnings of £31K per year
Temporary accommodation can be provided on the farm if required charged per week at £75.00
