**OCMS Research Tutor**

OCMS is a Christian Charity serving the Global Church to realise God’s transforming mission through research and applied scholarship.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed academic who is looking for a role in our Christian mission-focused organisation. The person we are looking for will have a passion to support students from all over the world in their PhD journey. They will want to contribute productively to cutting-edge mission research.

In addition, they will have excellent digital and organisational skills - being able to balance many competing priorities. They will also have the ability to lead small project teams as required.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) and the salary is £34-38K depending on experience.

- **Key Objectives/ Principal Accountabilities**
- interview of PhD applicants and participation in student induction
- academic guidance and support to students in the OCMS stage to ensure timely submission of the registration portfolio in order for the student to register in the OCMS/ Middlesex University research degree programme.
- academic guidance through the MPhil and PhD stages
- serve on transfer panels and examination boards as an internal examiner or chair
- provide OCMS Students with pastoral care, academic counsel, and regular encouragement in their research programme.

2) Contribute to the academic life of OCMS through participation in lectures, seminars, and conferences

4) To participate in and contribute to the spiritual life of the OCMS community, including practices of prayer, Bible teaching and regular participation in Chapel.

5) To promote the work of OCMS in external international fora in line with OCMS vision and mission statements

6) To participate in _ad hoc_ OCMS projects/project teams and effectively manage the administrative workload as agreed with the line manager.

- Good Project management skills
- Excellent IT and digital skills
- Potential to grow into leadership and line management roles
- Good Administrative skills and efficiency
- Self starter
- Ability to assess and evaluate scholar’s progress and participate in examination processes
- Ability to empathetically mentor students from a wide variety of ethnic and academic backgrounds.
- Able to lead within their own sphere of responsibility, appropriately taking initiative within their designated area yet being appropriately accountable to the Academic Dean, the SMT, and work collaboratively with the whole academic team
- Able to work with students to identify needed research skills and to plan accordingly with the students using the Research Development Planner.
- Able to think ahead, see the ‘big picture’ and who works in a future facing way, rather than managing the present alone
- Ability to nurture personal growth and spiritual life and contribute to others in a similar way.

**Salary**: £34,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
