Police Driver Trainer

Location: Thirsk Vale House

Hours: Full Time, Permanent

**Salary**: Scale 6- S01 £28,530 - £33,348

We are looking for a Driver Trainer to join North Yorkshire Police on a permanent basis.

The Trainer will be responsible for training police and police staff and assess their suitability to drive specified vehicles used in the force. You will cover a broad base of training including standard and advanced vehicle driving, operational response, manoeuvrability, skid control, prison van driving, personnel carrier and basic mechanical skills.

In this role you will:

- Assess the capability of team members in accordance with National Standards
- Produce reports in connection with driver training.
- Produce regular written assessments on individual students.
- Offer feedback on students’ performance
- Make judgement at the end of each student’s period of training on whether they are able to drive police vehicles safely
- Organise resources for training courses
- Conduct eyesight tests
- Offer tuition on driving topics to North Yorkshire Police employees and Special Constables.
- Evaluate and make amendments to existing courses to improve standard of training
- Design new courses to improve standard of training delivered

To be Successful in the role you will:

- Have previous experience of designing, developing and delivering learning and development sessions
- Have experience of delivering training, encouraging team members to reach their potential
- Be organised and be able to plan effectively
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Have advanced police driving qualification
- Have an existing or retired police driver training qualification

An appropriate training qualification would be desirable but not essential (e.g., level 3 Certificate in Education). However, if no formal training qualification is possessed there would be an expectation that the post holder would work towards this.
