Sense is looking for a Support Worker/ Communicator Guide within our fantastic Community Service located in Llandysul, Carmarthenshire. We are offering you an hourly rate of £10.20.
This is a permanent position working 10 hours per week with a potential to increase if suitable. We will assess your availability/suitability and pair you with a suitable Individual(s) to support, this could be one session a week or 3 sessions a day depending on your availability and generally shifts are completed between Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm occasional evening and weekends may be required. There is also potential for additional hours by matching with any number of new referrals we receive. We are able to be flexible with shifts so would love to discuss your options and hear from you
This role is in a well-established Community Service, supporting over 50 clients with sensory impairments to maintain independence and carry out activities that are important to them. You will work alongside a supportive manager and a dedicated team at Sense to provide support which can include helping clients with their weekly shopping, taking exercise or attending local groups.
The individual you will support for this role is in his 60's with vision and hearing impairment, living independently and would like support on a 1:1 basis to visit cafes, shopping and attend social groups.
You may have cared for a family member in the past, and felt the reward? Or be a genuinely caring person looking to help positively impact an Individual's life? This role could suit someone with a young family or a semi-retired person.
A driving license and use of your own car is essential to be able to transport clients to activities to maintain independence and BSL skills to be able to communicate with clients who are deaf.

Within their home, and within the community.
To provide a customised, responsive and high-quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
Everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning.
Finances.
Appointments
Going into the community for shopping or other trips.
Their social life
To promote independence, life skills and informed choices in accordance with the individuals support plan.
To enable individuals we support to influence their services and the way they are supported.
To Listen to individuals and act on what is important to them.
To use information to contribute to developing person-centred plans.
To provide opportunities for the individual to make choices and decisions.
To support the individual to take part in the running of their own home.
To support people to speak up for themselves, and/or advocate on their behalf.
To listen and respond to the individual’s needs.
To promote and support people to take part in enjoyable, satisfying and purposeful activities
To support the individual to access the community, learn new skills and maximise independence.
