We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Safeguarding Advisor to join us on a part time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Employee Relations and Engagement Manager the Safeguarding Advisor has the primary responsibility for managing and following up Safeguarding concerns about children and adults that RSPCA colleagues come into contact with. For putting into place procedures to safeguard children and adults in the organisation and supporting RSPCA Safeguarding leads.

This is a vital role where you will support RSPCA Safeguarding Leads and Deputies in embedding a safeguarding culture throughout the organisation, using their influence to create a safe and positive environment for children and adults.

**The role will be hybrid working from our South East Regional Hub - (Horsham, West Sussex)**

Here's some of the key work that you will be doing...
- To promote the development of a culture of safeguarding in the RSPCA; this includes developing, monitoring and reviewing the internal policies and systems in relation to safeguarding and child/adult protection.
- Have responsibility for monitoring and assessing the impact of safeguarding and child/adult protection practice at every level in the organisation and identify risks and communicate those risks to the Designated Safeguarding Lead for that Directorate
- Recommend solutions to areas of Safeguarding risk identified and support Safeguarding leads in reducing these
- Provide advice to the Designated Safeguarding Lead and colleagues on the day-to-day management of safeguarding where there are child/adult protection concerns.
- Develop and have operational responsibility for the internal Safeguarding recording process
- Attend multi-agency case conferences, strategy discussions and other safeguarding and child/adult protection meetings as appropriate
- Promote collaborative working and the sharing of best practice among staff and the organisations external partners (inc Branches & NSPCC), which complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements on safeguarding and child/adult protection
- Produce timely and accurate reports and presentations on safeguarding and child protection for the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Senior Leadership Team
- Maintain update to date knowledge in all areas of safeguarding and related topics
- Keep abreast of local and national policy developments in relation to children's/adults well-being, safeguarding and child/adult protection and update the Designated Safeguarding Lead and colleagues as appropriate

What we are looking for in you...
- Experience of working within Safeguarding with relevant qualifications
- Knowledge of key statutory agencies in relation to Safeguarding
- Ability to recognise and define poor practice and abuse, including thresholds of abuse
- Safer recruitment, and an understanding of its importance in preventing abuse.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, government guidance and national framework for Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Experience of delivery training to a wide range of audiences on a range of Saguaring related topics
- How to recognise and respond to abuse
- Good level of researching, developing and writing Safeguarding policies
- Legislation, government guidance and national framework for safeguarding children and adults at risk.
- Great stakeholder management and experience with using local authoriities
- Understand the core values and principles that underpin good safeguarding practice
- Experience of managing and advising on complex safeguarding issues
