Plymouth, United Kingdom Bournemouth Churches Housing Association Full time

BCHA are a diverse and growing specialist housing, learning and support provider. We are currently recruiting for **NIGHT Support Workers** to join our team at our womens refuge in Plymouth, our bespoke female only accommodation supporting women experiencing homelessness in dedicated properties in the community.

BCHA work closely with Plymouth Alliance Services to provide support to women to help them rebuild their lives and move forward - by offering therapeutic interventions, addressing their homelessness and considering their goals and future aspirations.

Our womens refuge has been open for over a year and we have created a really positive, safe and secure environment for women and our support staff to work together. We are now growing this service in order to support more women.

**Position**:
We need new people to join us to enable us to provide support to women who are at the beginning of their journey to recovery. We give them the space and time to understand their support needs and work towards overcoming barriers, through accessing local services.

It would be great if you have previous experience of working with homeless and or other socially excluded people and a good understanding of safeguarding issues. You will also have the energy and enthusiasm to provide positive support and trauma informed care to those who need our support. It is a role where you can really make a difference.

**We can offer you the opportunity to**:

- work within a small professional team in a friendly and supportive environment;
- achieve real job satisfaction in a rewarding and challenging role;
- focus on building trusting relationships with our customers;
- receive full training in trauma informed approaches, managing mental health, substance misuse and accommodation services;
- liaise with external providers to access services that support customers
- You will be a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off

You can add real value as part of a small team of professionals who build positive, trusting and respectful relationships with our customers who are preparing to move forward towards independence.

**BCHA Safer Recruitment**:Safeguarding children and adults is our first priority and we will ensure we follow safer recruitment procedures.

BCHA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of people, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

**Requirements**:
**To be successful in this role you need to**:

- prioritise the immediate safety needs of the customers and manage risk;
- enable customers to access funds and specific support services;
- engage customers in their own recovery and support planning;
- access sustainable accommodation to enable customers to begin their recovery
- provide intensive personalised support and effective case management;
- support access to services including legal, mental health, sexual, domestic, drug & alcohol abuse;
- build professional working relationships - internally & externally;
- be a resilient, confident, calm, practical & pragmatic person;
- be self-motivated, proactive, assertive, empathic and non-judgemental;
- have good listening, questioning and written skills
