**Job Description for: Academic Tutor (Maths)**
- We are looking for a dedicated and passionate person who has:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades C and above (or equivalent), including Math, English and Science.
- Experience of working in a school or with children or young people.
- Strong communication skills.
- A genuine enthusiasm to work with children.
- Skills to adapt to meet the needs of our pupils, either in 1:1, small or larger groupsettings.
- Capacity to tutor online if necessary.
- Able to use technology confidently.

Bouncing Statistics is a local community interest company based in Birmingham that exists to support and develop young people aged between 4-25 to ‘bounce statistics’ and achieve greatness despite any advertise, stereotypes, or barriers they have to overcome.

Bouncing Statistics provides young people with the skills and experiences which are vital for everyday life and overall development. All with helping participants with the pursuit of their goals and targets through mentoring and tutoring. Bouncing Statistics has partnered with notable organisations such as the National Health Service (NHS) and the West Midlands Police, facilitating community events, delivering training to police offers, and building bridges between the community and the police via specific school workshops.

In addition, Bouncing Statistics has liaised with many other organisations in and around Birmingham with the view of increasing engagement to reach the goal of 250,000 engagement by 2030.All with the view of aiding and supporting the upcoming generations to ‘bounce their statistic’.

**JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE**:Tutor Math

**SALARY SCALE**: £12 p/hr
- To be responsible for ensuring learning gaps are narrowed for key cohorts of pupils.
- To promote the general development and well-being of individual pupils, any class orgroup of pupils assigned to them principally, but not exclusively.
- To promote all cross-curricular themes within their specialist area.
- It is essential to follow the remit and systems of accountability related to the school’scommitments and priorities.

**Main Areas of Responsibility and Accountability**
- As a tutor and small group teacher
- Deliver 1:1 and small group tuition for targeted pupils at all key stages.
- Planning and preparing schemes of work for pupils assigned to them, in keeping withthe policies and programmes of study in force by the relevant departments.
- Prepare tuition sessions according to pupils’ needs and targets as established inconjunction with the relevant class teacher.
- Developing out of hours’ school learning including homework.
- Monitor pupil performance. Maintain records of pupils' assessment results, progress,feedback, ensuring confidentiality of all records.
- Keep careful records of tuition, undertake assessment, track pupil’s progress, andprepare succinct reports for the relevant Head of Department and Tutoring Manager.
- Work closely with the relevant class teacher, and other stakeholders to ensure thattuition supports and is complementary to existing structures and procedures.
- Participate in training and development sessions to improve tutoring practices or learnnew tutoring techniques
- A commitment to safeguarding all pupils. Participate in training and developmentsessions on safeguarding that ensure that online safety is delivered in accordance withthe school’s Acceptable use of ICT and Safeguarding Policy.

- The post holder shall also undertake such other duties as may be commensurate withthe grade and nature of the post.
