Cheshire Sandstone Ridge Community Engagement Officer

Fixed term for 18 months (in the first instance) on a contract basis

**Salary**: £28,000 pro rata on a 37.5 hrs working week

**Hours of Work**: 30 hours per week (inc. weekends/evenings as appropriate)

**Hybrid Working**: flexibility of remote and office-based working

**Holidays**: 25 days per annum pro rata

About the role

The post holder will work closely with Trustees and local partners to deliver a programme of
education and engagement for a diverse range of audiences and age profiles and which will
promote the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge. You will have experience working on, or participating in,
community projects. You will also have good knowledge of the services and activities available
in local areas. You will be highly organised and have a willingness to learn new things. Above
all, you will demonstrate a strong desire to support local people to make lasting change in the local
authority areas.

About you

With proven experience of community engagement and a relevant degree, you’ll put your knowledge
of rural and conservation issues to best possible use. You’ll show that you are a skilled
communicator, and that you are confident in reaching and engaging with communities and individuals from all sectors.
We’re looking for someone who can inspire and build positive relationships, with an ability to
tease out, analyse and advise on the key issues for the area and local people. Above all, you
should have a genuine interest in the conservation and enjoyment of the special qualities of
the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge, and the aims and ambitions of the Trust.

About us

The Sandstone Ridge Trust works, in partnership, to improve and enhance the natural beauty and
special qualities of the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge for all those who live in, work on, or visit
the area. The Ridge covers 20,000 hectares of hills, escarpments and plains in mid Cheshire, stretching from Frodsham and Helsby in the north, through the Delamere glacial meres and mosses,
to Malpas in the south. Tarporley lies at the heart of the Ridge. It corresponds approximately to National Character Area No. 62.
Currently, the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge is being considered by Natural England as a new Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty.
