Vehicle Mechanic

South Derbyshire’s Waste & Transport team are looking to appoint a full-time motivated vehicle mechanic to join our small team maintaining and repairing the Councils fleet of vehicles based at the Council’s Depot at Darklands Road, Swadlincote.

This role will have a particular emphasis on the Councils operators licensed vehicles and will need knowledge of scheduling and preparing vehicles for DVSA testing. There will also be a need to service, maintain and repair a wide range of municipal vehicles including refuse collection, road sweepers, ride on mowers, tractors and various ancillary plant.

Applicants must hold a recognised qualification in motor vehicle technology equivalent to at least level 2 City and Guilds and have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience.

A category C driving license is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience within the Transport industry as support and development will be provided, and they will need to work closely with the Councils Transport Manager.
