**So, what does the role of a Claims Handler here involve?**
This role will be made for you if you love providing an end-to-end claims service, building on new and existing client and Insurer relationships by way of first class service.
Our Claims Handlers are excellent at reporting, chasing and advising customers on their claims and liaise from the First Notification of Loss through to the settlement of claims up to authorised limits under delegated authority arrangements.
You will work as part of a small team in the Norwich office but also as part of the wider Hugh J Boswell claims team.
**What you will do**
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all the following and more:
- Be the first point of contact for customers in the reporting of all types of claims, ensuring they receive prompt and accurate advice.
- Negotiate with insurers in relation to the settlement of claims, both in respect of policy liability and settlement amount.
- Assist clients in any avenues of recovery for any uninsured losses following a claim. Instructing necessary agents, solicitors or hire companies. Work with our current agents in pursuing negligent third parties.
- Maintain a diary system for all outstanding claims and ensure these are chased regularly, keeping customers informed of progress.
- Advise clients on their options should insurers refuse indemnity under any particular policy or wish to offer a final settlement figure below original expectation.
**What experience does our Claims Handler need?**
It’s **essential that you have some insurance claims experience **ideally commercial lines but personal lines definitely will be considered. We may also be open to other insurance experience, particularly involving customer facing and detail orientated responsibilities.
