Reporting to the Pathology Manager you will be responsible for performing clerical, technical and scientific work relating to the laboratory in a professional and competent manner, whilst being supervised by a professionally qualified member of staff. For the right person we offer additional training and apprenticeships, such as Biomedical Science (BMS) to further your career.

**Duties and responsibilities**

You will be part of an experienced and supportive pathology team working within this state of the art lab. You will be the first point of contact for all samples entering the lab and will oversee its transport throughout the lab.
- Undertake simple pathology investigations
- Report factual data and information
- Monitor and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens, blood and tissues.
- Ensuring that sample turn-around times are met.
- Assist with research and development
- Operate instrumentation for measuring pathology analyses
- You will be the main point of contact in and out of the lab
- Contribute to the implementation of services
- Packaging and sending samples

**Working Hours**:Shifts available vary on site, however they will be between Monday - Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 9am-3pm.

**Who we're looking for**
- **Public transport to the hospital is very limited, so a driving licence is essential.**:

- Good standard of education with demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills - GCSE pass level in Science
- Experience of scientific laboratory functions would be desirable
- Experience of working in an independent sector medical laboratory is beneficial
- Good organisational skills is essential
- Good computer skills is essential, ideally experienced on MS Office as a minimum
- You will be able to demonstrate your outstanding communication skills
