**Salary**: £27,131 to £28,762 with progression to £31,411 per annum

The Role

(We) are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and determined Planning and Performance Officer to assist with the production and analysis of a range of student, staff, and research management information, to support and advise the senior leadership team to achieve the delivery of our business needs and strategic priorities.

You will undertake specific statutory and regular reporting as well as additional adhoc data requests from colleagues. Working closely with schools and central planning office.

We are seeking a proactive problem-solver and confident communicator to provide accurate management information, ensuring data integrity using a range of complex data sources. We are keen to hear from those who can combine their analytical skills and attention to detail to evidence their understanding of good data governance. The role will support and contribute to the development and promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across the faculty.

The appointment is open-ended and offered as 0.8FTE (29.6 hours per week) with an immediate start date.

Key Accountabilities
Support the Faculty planning process through production of a broad range of summary and statistical reports using data sourced from internal systems, such as SAP, Business Warehouse and MyImpact, external systems such as HEIDI plus and broader data mining techniques
Actively promote the Faculty’s EDI agenda and support the delivery of EDI strategic objectives, to support delivery of key objectives/priority actions and through regular and ad-hoc reporting.
Analyse a range of internal and external data to benchmark performance, producing reports to support the delivery of faculty service areas, and School priorities, working with relevant team leads to identify specific requirements.
Produce regular reports, analyses, and monitoring information to agreed schedules within the faculty planning cycle to support School business needs such as Academic Group strategic reviews and workload models
Hold responsibility for the dissemination, review and collection of faculty data required for university statutory reporting, such as HEBCIS, HESES, HESA staff and student returns and Freedom of Information requests.
Support the faculty Research and Education teams in the provision of faculty datasets as required for external ranking exercises, such as the Research Excellence Framework, Teaching Excellence Framework and Knowledge Excellence Frameworks.
Develop ways of working in cognisance of good governance, promoting increased transparency and access to information in line with University policy and ensure legislative requirements and good practice initiatives are incorporated within the work of the team through active horizon scanning
Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Director of Diversity and the Planning and Performance Manager
Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Excellent (and demonstrable) IT literacy, including the use of Microsoft Office packages and advanced use of Excel
Experience of gathering, manipulating, analysing, and presenting large datasets; a working knowledge of basic statistical analyses and tests
Knowledge and understanding of good equality and diversity practice
Understanding of higher education planning and management information needs of academic units
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate complex information to non-specialists
Information search skills, including the use of external web-based data sources
Desirable
Experience of data coordination and management in a Higher Education environment
Understanding of relevant policies and procedures, as they affect the role, and the quality standards and outputs required
