Our client is a leading company, offering research services to the Drug Discovery sector. They collaborate with lead researchers and organisations to enhance the understanding of immunological, oncological, neurological and other disease areas. Based inAlderley Park, they are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join their drug discovery and team as a Lead Scientist on a full-time and permanent basis. If you have extensive experience successfully deliveringprojects within pre-clinical drug discovery, this represents a fantastic opportunity.

**The Role**

This is a hybrid role which will take place outside of the lab. It is for a Lead Scientist with a degree in a relevant scientific discipline and substantial experience developing and delivering projects within a drug discovery setting. As a Lead Scientistwithin the Drug Discovery department, you will be responsible for:

- Leading collaborative project delivery and ensure seamless coordination throughout all stages of the project’s development and delivery process
- Taking initiative in identifying new strategies to bring value to the wider UK medicine discovery community.
- Conducting vital scientific evaluation throughout the project, including assessing project proposals and target validation, refining project plans and target product profiles, and overseeing work done by external partners such as CROs, ensuring that allactivities are strategically aligned and delivered on time.
- Attending various meetings with partners across the UK
- Making an active contribution to governance activities, including leading committee meetings, and providing support in preparing materials and follow-up activities.
- Collaborating with UK innovators in medicine discovery, aligning with our internal capabilities, and transforming their requirements into successful drug discovery projects by providing constructive guidance to the project owner.
- Aiding the communications team to highlight success stories and build the marketing & communications strategy
- Provide assistance to the operations team for collecting KPIs

**Skills and Experience Needed**:
Suitable applicants will have:

- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline and extensive drug discovery experience, this can be gained in a biopharmaceutical, biotech, or academic setting (essential)
- Experience of creating and presenting drug discovery strategies to acquire investment (essential)
- Previous successful delivery of outsourced projects using CROs (essential)
- A demonstrated history of successful leadership and delivery of drug delivery or multi-partner collaborative projects (essential)
- A thorough understanding of the drug development process and the relationship between clinical and preclinical research (essential)
- Interact with influential senior leaders within a range of organisations to create constructive working relationships (essential)
- Existing right-to-work in the UK (essential)
- A strong publication record (may include patents) which shows a strong drug discovery or scientific impact (desirable)
- Expertise in DMPK, lead generation, or safety pharmacology within a drug discovery setting (desirable)
- Awareness or working experience of open innovation within drug discovery (desirable)
