Maintenance Assistant - Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. Routine & Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing repairs, electrical work, system maintenance, and carpentry to ensure all facilities are in optimal working condition
- Implement a preventive maintenance schedule to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems
- Maintain outdoor areas to a high level of cleanliness, including gardening, public areas, car park area and keeping the property appearance standards up. 25 Hours a week including weekends

2. Repairs
- Diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to resolve maintenance problems promptly
- Respond promptly and efficiently to staff & guest requests for maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, facilities, public areas, and attraction facilities

3. Inventory Management
- Maintain an organised inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for maintenance work
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and inspections

4. Safety, Emergency & Compliance
- Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a safe and secure environment for guests and employees
- Follow and adhere to safety protocols and be an advocate in and for regular safety training

5. Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with other departments, such as housekeeping, F&B and management, to coordinate maintenance activities that do not disrupt guest experiences

Required Skills and Experience
- Technical or trade school training in maintenance-related fields or industry experience to match this
- Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
- Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations is a plus
