Process Technologist

**Job Purpose**:**_
Provide a short statement indicating the overall objectives & purpose of the job_**:

- To project manage the product launch side of NPD & EPD activities
- Including product analysis
- Factory scale up trials
- Plant product approval
- Factory launch.
- To support and advise the concept team during early stages of development.

**Dimensions of Job/Key Performance Indicators**:_
Provide a summary of scope of operation of the job such as span of control direct/indirect, size of budget managed, scope of authority & decision making. Identify which KPI’s the job is directly/indirectly accountable for._
- No direct reports
- Ensure the Speedibake NPD Process is followed.
- Projects are delivered on time, identify actions needed to get late projects back on track.
- Live, display and demonstrate Speedibake Values
- Complete the FTG Process with an up-to-date IDP
- Deputize for the Product Development Manger

**Key Accountabilities**:_
Provide a list of the key elements of the job, that the holder will be responsible for delivering (8-10 points)_

**Main Duties**:

- Key member of the Process Team ensuring that concepts are realised in production.
- Take ownership of the following areas of the development stages:
**Concept Development Stage**:

- To advise the concept team with ingredient and packaging information for product briefs.
- To develop capability assessments of key pieces of equipment.
- To train the concept team in processing equipment capability.
- To co-ordinate and conduct feasibility trials.
- To input in the development of raw material.
**Implementation Stage**
- Manage critical path to launch to ensure that project is delivered to agreed timescales.
- Ensure project files are kept up to date with relevant information.
- To plan and schedule factory trials. Complete post trial evaluation, including trial report writing, trial review meetings and using statistical data to establish process and product parameters.
- Engage with customer on progress of product launch, trials reviews, production samples etc.
- To conduct training with all operator’s line set up, processing parameters and product quality parameters.
- To co-ordinate nutritional, micro and shelf life testing in line with customer requirements.
- To assist in the progression of the artwork process.
- To communicate and co-ordinate projects with relevant internal departments and capital project engineer.
- To optimise production processes to achieve or exceed costing target.
- To complete internal recipes, process specifications & quality attribute sheets and co-ordinate their integration into the QMS.
**Completion / Evaluation Stage**
- Facilitate the first full production run.
- Provide support for factory on 2nd & 3rd production runs to ensure smooth product transition into factory and to iron out any issues.
- To co-ordinate post launch review and action improvements that could be made in the development process.

**Experience and Qualifications**:_
Specify academic requirements or equivalency, required years and type(S) of experience and necessary professional licences or certificates if relevant. Specify which are essential and which are desired. Include details of technical skills such as knowledge of a particular type of system_
- Degree in Food Science / Technology (not a requirement but preferred)
- 1-2 years experience required in the food industry in a similar process / NPD role
- Bakery background preferred but not essential
- Full UK driving license
