**The Role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Repex Designer to join our team based at either Thorpe Park, Leeds or Doxford Park, Sunderland on a permanent contract.

As a Repex Designer, you will ensure that the replacement workload is designed to be safe, efficient and resilient, achieving all required outputs for RIIO-GD2 and beyond. You will work in a team of technical design and planning staff delivering a rangeof network design activities to ensure the replacement programme is fit for purpose and compliant with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

**Key accountabilities and responsibilities**
- Provide technical support for the development of NGN's replacement strategy to help achieve regulatory outputs
- Ensure NGN's statutory obligations are met along with stakeholder and commercial consideration
- Ensure Designs adhere to all required policies and procedures
- Prepare and utilise Graphical Interface System data layers to assist with project design
- To ensure the safe and secure operation of NGN's assets, there may be a requirement to provide out of hours Network Analysis support to operational staff
- Ensure consideration is given to the removal/mitigation of Construction Risks throughout the Design Lifecycle.

**Knowledge, Experience & Technical Know How**

No specific technical knowledge is necessary, as full training will be given. Training will be provided to ensure a robust understanding of the appropriate systems (Synergi Gas, Sap, ArcMap etc.) and techniques used to carry out design activities.
- Knowledge & understanding of the operation of the gas distribution network.
- Knowledge of NGN's replacement requirements for RIIO-GD2
- Awareness of network modelling and use of analytical tools, ideally within the gas /utilities sector (Synergi Gas, ArcMap, GIS)
- Solid decision-making skills with the ability to understand and interpret complex data
- Management of internal customer and stakeholder relationships
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders in the development of project designs
- Commercial awareness
- Ability to challenge normal engineering practices against alternative scenarios
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Logical approach and able to demonstrate an ability for resolving analytical problems
- Strong team player with ability to work on own initiative

**Skills and Experience**

**Essential**
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Open minded and inquisitive
- Excellent attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence (note that training will take place at Thorpe Park, Leeds)

**Desirable**
- Member of IGEM or other relevant Professional Engineering Institution
