An exciting opportunity has arisen for a practitioner psychologist to work with children and families in the multi-disciplinary paediatric weight management service. Knowledge and skills in developmental trauma are desirable.

The post holder will be an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist. They will have knowledge and experience of delivering psychological assessment and interventions. They will also be supported to develop their skills in therapeutic approaches for developmental trauma.

The post holder will be part of the Child Development and Health Psychology Service, which delivers psychology services to children and families in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The post holder will join a dynamic group of clinical psychologists. Regular supervision, joint working and training are key aspects of the service. The department enjoys a good relationship with the South Wales Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology, and offers core and elective placements.

The Child Development and Health Psychology Service has good links with the wider psychology community in Cardiff and Vale UHB. The service is committed to supporting staff in their continuing professional development and specialist interests.

You will provide a psychology service for children, young people and their families referred to the weight management service, and offer a psychological perspective to the team. You will promote service initiatives, take a major role in enhancing multi-disciplinary team work and developing links with the wider network.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
