To support and enable “Forgotten Families” to recover from the negative effects of someone else’s substance misuse.

**Context and Job Purpose**

Hetty’s will work with Forgotten Families to deliver a holistic approach to meet the needs of the family to ensure that:

- Families and carers have specialist provision in their own right to meet their own recovery needs.
- To work within the key principles of ‘Think Family’ ensuring that services are co-ordinated and focused on the problems that affect the whole family
- Identify families at risk of poor outcomes to provide support at the earliest opportunity;
- Meet the full range of needs within each family they are supporting or working with;
- Develop services which can respond effectively to the most challenging families;
- Strengthen the ability of family members to provide care and support to each other.
- Commitment, time and effort will affect change for families and children;
- Families are **empowered** to overcome challenges;
- The whole family is considered;
- Family strengths are recognised and built upon;
- Support is tailored to need;
- Better outcomes for children.

**Principle Responsibilities** **Provide structured, confidential, effective non-judgemental support to enable families and concerned others to recover from the effects of substance misuse. Interventions to be delivered via telephone, one to one support, group work, educational workshops enabling them to explore and recover from the effects of substance misuse.**
- Actively promoting Hetty’s services and treatment options for substance users.
- To take a proactive and flexible approach to engaging “Forgotten Families” affected by someone else’s substance misuse in all aspects of family recovery work and having the personal responsibility to follow up calls, one to ones, groups etc. through a variety of different mediums if families disengage.
- To complete the family focused outcome tool “Rickter” to asses, review and develop individual packages of care that reflect the needs of the whole family, building resilience and social and recovery capital.
- Plan, assess, write SMART recovery plans and review work with clients, which reflect planned client exits. Actively utilising ITEP and BTEI routes to recovery goal orientated manuals.
- To assess risk and safeguarding issues undertake risk and needs assessments and make necessary referrals to Social Care via MASH, MARAC etc.
- Proactively communicate work in partnership with external agencies both voluntary and statutory enabling whole family recovery
- Proactively engage and liaise with partnership agencies and workers to ensure families are considered and appropriately informed and considered.
- To undertake and take personal responsibility for training and training needs. Share knowledge and experience through peer support with new volunteers, students and new members of staff.
- Work and advocate on behalf of families to ensure a holistic approach to recovery and treatment, proactively finding creative and innovative ways to seek new referrals
- Provide up to date relevant information to families about substance misuse its effects, treatment and recovery options and harm reduction, abstinence, mutual aid and peer support.
- Keep accurate and up to date records that comply with confidentiality, GDPR legislation and in line with case file audits.
- Effectively monitor and evidence outcomes/increased Social, Physical, Human, Recovery Capital for families using Lamplight data recording, case studies, written reports (internal and external, supervision and allocations. Targets and outcomes to be agreed annually
- Comply with all relevant Health and Safety, Operational, Personnel, Data Protection GDPR and Financial Regulations, Equal opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies and procedures.
- To undertake both planned and crisis work with families using a range of interventions and support planning.
- To always treat our service users with respect and dignity and actively promote equality of opportunities and diversity.
- To undertake any duties and responsibilities as required within the organisation
- Responsible for ensuring you are updated on, The Children’s Act, MASH and Hidden Harm Agenda. Being responsible for accurate and appropriate referrals and follow up proceedings to safeguard vulnerable adults and children.
- To undertake both planned and crisis work with families and service users using a range of interventions and skills as appropriate.
- Proactively respond in a flexible manner to any changes in working times and hours as required by service demands.
