A permanent Band 5 Psychology Assistant post has arisen in the South Warwickshire Recovery Team

37.5 hours per week

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist to support the work of the South Warwickshire Recovery Team.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team supporting the delivery of recovery focused interventions to people experiencing psychosis in the community. The post holder will work alongside and support a wide range of professionals including nurses, doctors, support workers, occupational therapists, social workers and other psychologists. The post holder will be expected to promote values that seek to support recovery in this client group and maximise the potential of individuals with the aim of reducing social exclusion, stigma and the potentially disabling effects of psychosis.

As well as experience the post holder will bring good communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside organisational skills and the ability to work independently. Support and supervision of a Clinical Psychologist will be provided.

You are required to hold a Psychology Degree giving GBR status with the British Psychological Society, Grade 2:1 or above and be able to travel during the working day, using your own transport.

To undertake psychological assessments, administering psychological and neuropsychological tests, direct observations and rating scales.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society & Trust policies and procedures.

To write letters and reports following assessments.

To communicate skilfully, tactfully and sensitively highly complex and sensitive information with patients, families and colleagues.

To assist qualified staff in providing therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups. This will include working directly and independently with complex clients, their families and both formal and informal carers.

To provide, promote and develop psychological understanding in conjunction with or on behalf of a qualified clinician.

To work in a variety of settings e.g. patient’s own home, residential or nursing homes, clinic settings and day care facilities.

To plan and prioritise workload, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients.

To carry out service evaluations and audit.
