**Reporting to**:

- Chair of Greens or his/her nominated Deputy, which may be the Chairman

**Job Purpose**:

- To work with colleagues to maintain and present the Golf Course to the highest standard on a daily basis.

Ruthin Pwllglas Golf Club is a 10-hole private members club situated in the Vale of Clwyd and offers stunning views of the Clwydian Range. The club dates back to 1905 and is located in an elevated position above the village of Pwllglas.

The members are very proud of their course which offers a unique golfing experience. Over recent years the course has benefited from members' input to non-golf related areas of the course, such as woodland management, and we are looking to continue the improvements over the forthcoming years to the course.

**Personal Skills - Essential**
- A positive attitude to work, self-motivated with excellent time management
- A flexible approach to work, work hours and weekend duties
- Ability to produce work programmes and schedule work for colleagues
- Be able to issue instructions to colleagues and supervise their work
- Be able to work to the highest standards and possess a keen attention to detail with an ability to provide high quality playing surfaces
- Experience of operating a wide range of grounds maintenance equipment from pedestrian mowers to ride-on grass cutting equipment
- Good working knowledge and maintenance skills of fine turf machinery
- Must hold a full valid UK driving licence

**Personal Skills - Desirable**
- Possess or be working towards an NVQ 2 or 3 Sports Turf Management or equivalent qualification and 5 to 7 years’ experience in Greenkeeping or Grounds Maintenance related activities
- NPTC PA1 / PA6 Pesticide Certificate
- Chainsaw Certificate
- Some knowledge of arboriculture and amenity horticulture would be an advantage
- Health & Safety and or First Aid Qualifications

**Role & Responsibilities**
- To plan and programme work and to instruct, supervise and monitor work of colleagues
- Maintain machinery/equipment in a safe working condition. Set up machines ready for use and carry out daily checks and minor servicing
- Operate pedestrian and ride on mowers, greens equipment, chain saws and tractors
- Cut tees, greens, aprons, surrounds, fairways, rough and semi rough to the required standard
- Ability to identify and control pests and diseases in relation to the greens
- Renovate and construct new features such as tees, bunkers, worn and damaged turf, pathways, fences, etc. Establish and maintain trees, shrubs, hedges, etc.
- Switch and brush greens to remove dew & debris
- Set up the golf course, including changing holes, moving tee markers, indicating OOB, drop zones and hazards
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with key members, colleagues and customers. Provide feedback on how work is progressing and bring any outstanding issues that need attention to the notice of the Chair of Greens.
- Report any defects/breakages/hazards as soon as possible to the Greens Chairman or Club Chairman
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear and personal protective clothing/equipment as required.
- Able to undertake minor servicing of plant and machinery
- Able to work outdoors
- Willing to learn new skills and take on additional tasks as required
- Supervise and manage a Trainee/Assistant Greenkeeper
- Attend the Greens Sub-Committee Meetings as and when required to report on any course related issues and progress
- Liaise with Chair of Greens/Club Treasurer to arrange purchase of essential commodities relevant to managing the course.

**Salary**: £26,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
