**Title**: Relief Charity Shop Assistant

**Salary**:National Minimum Wage

**Hours**:Hours to be agreed between Monday Saturday - 9.00am till 4.00pm as andwhen required.

**Responsible to**: Charity ShopManager

**Location**:Wednesfield YMCA Charity Shop

**The role**:

- To assist with and undertake the day-to-day operation and development of the YMCA Black Country Group Charity Shop in accordance with procedures in order to maximise sales and profits.
- To promote YMCA Black Country Group and the services it provides to the local community.
- Assist in ensuring that donated stock density, rotation, display space allocation, selection and pricing presentation are all in place.
- To support the Shop Manager in the collection of Gift Aid data.
- To deliver the highest level of customer service at all times.
- Assist in ensuring that effective processing systems are in place within the stockroom to support the needs of the sales floor.
- Maintain a high standard of merchandising and display, both windows and in-store.
- Comply with all relevant operational standards, including health and safety matters, and ensure they are maintained and adhered to in the absence of the Shop Manager.
- To open and close the store as directed by the Shop Manager.
- To ensure that at all times you are courteous to any staff of the landlord / owner of the property or its agents.
- To be flexible to the changing needs of the YMCA Black Country Group and its service users.
- To promote the aims and purpose of the YMCA Black Country Group.

**Experience / Qualifications**:
**Essential**

**Desirable**

Literate & numerate with good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of people

Previous experience of working in a retail shop

**Skills / Knowledge**:
The ability to work as part of an effective team

Excellent customer service skills

**Personal Attributes**

Flexible approach to work required. Occasional requirement to work additional days to cover holidays and sickness or participate in trading outside of normal shop hours e.g. shop events

The ability to establish a rapport with people, enthuse and motivate

Be punctual and reliable

**Other
Ability to respect and communicate the YMCAs Christian ethos
