We are looking for a child counsellor or therapist to work with young people and children on a self-employed basis. Very rewarding, very pleasant children and a beautiful location.

**Experience**

A minimum of 1 year’s experience of working in a therapeutic setting, specifically 5 to 16 year olds.

**Knowledge**

1. Knowledge of, and the ability to work with a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities depending on the needs of the client, including CBT and counselling.

2. Up to date knowledge of legislation, procedures and regulations covering children and young people, including safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection.

3. Knowledge of, and the ability to implement, risk assessment procedures.

**Skills and Abilities**

1. Ability to deliver one to one counselling both face-to-face and online.

2. Ability to develop appropriate, positive relationships with young people and children.

3. Ability to communicate with young people and involve them in decision making, together with an understanding of the issues which affect young people.

4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

5. Excellent inter-personal skills.

6. Good organisational skills, including the ability to manage appointments.

7. Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills.

8. To be familiar with Microsoft Office programmes and be able to produce basic documents using these programmes.

9. The ability to carry out assessments and ensure the client is suitable for service

3. To be open to supervision and guidance from the clinical supervisor and manager.

4. To maintain good levels of attendance and to be punctual.

**You must have**:

- An enhanced DBS
- A satisfactory reference
- A counselling qualification
- Be able to drive and have your own car
- Be able to invoice for your time

You will be delivering a programme of interventions for children under 16 on a 1:1 basis. The job is part time, but has the potential to expand to further hours.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Freelance, Zero hours contract

**Salary**: £18.00 per hour
