Leading an award-winning team on the work of the trading standards service and its partners in relation to the sale of age restricted products, including, E-cigs, alcohol & tobacco. You can help us make sure that trading standards works with appropriate partners ensuring the best possible protection for the most vulnerable individuals and communities, whilst educating residents and ensuring businesses are compliant and responsible.
The successful applicant will work alongside regulatory, public health and 3 rd sector partners such as Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAPs) to ensuring a collaborative approach to partnership working, to protect the most vulnerable individuals and communities within Lancashire. Working with partners in a multi-agency safeguarding role ensuring appropriate interventions are undertaken/
You will have a proven track record of multi-agency partnership working to successfully combat issues such as alcohol & tobacco harm, tackling health inequalities and ensuring business compliance,whilst building consistent and positive relationships and influencing outcomes.
You will lead on the delivery of strategic partnerships, providing support to the Trading Standards Management Team to develop intelligence led policies and strategies relating to safe, healthy empowered communities.
You will have relevant experience in a Community Safety, Public Health or Regulatory licensing role, preferably from a trading standards, police or complex regulatory environment.
With great people skills you will be able to negotiate with external partners positively, to facilitate a co-ordinated response to alcohol and tobacco issues, with management responsibilities for a Senior Tobacco and Alcohol Officer within your team. You will oversee and support their work, educating and raising awareness of young people and their attitudes towards alcohol, tobacco and other novel products such as E-cigarettes and Nitrous oxide.
You will lead on the Licensing Act, Weights & Measures responsible authority role, and as a Principal Officer you will be supporting specialist officers in relation to illicit tobacco, underage sales as well as working with our district and police partners preparing and presenting representations for alcohol licensing reviews.
You will have a flexible approach to working hours and will be required to work outside normal working hours, when necessary, to participate in evening / weekend projects. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle with fully comprehensive vehicle insurance including business use is essential.
