**Job Role: Marketing Assistant**

**About Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone**:
Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is a 21st century youth hub located at the heart of Blackburn and a dedicated site in Darwen, open to young people aged 5 to 25 years old, aiming to change the prospects offered to young people in the area. Our vision is to be at the heart of the community, collaborating to create a more cohesive and prosperous Blackburn and Darwen.

We are one of the leading youth organisations in Blackburn, with a membership of over 2,500 young people. We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year and offer over 40 different activities and opportunities in our open access youth club.

**Context of Role**:
Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone is an iconic, state-of-the-art facility for young people in the heart of Blackburn which opened in June 2012.

We are seeking a creative individual to assist our marketing efforts at Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for helping us to promote our youth programmes and events, as well as driving engagement with our target audience. This role requires a flexible working pattern and you will be expected to work evenings and occasional weekends. You will also be expected to travel to different venues/locations.

**Duties of the role**:
Designing and creating of engaging digital assets
- These include, but are not limited to
- Graphic design of posters, banners, leaflets and newsletters (e.g Canva)
- Social media posts (Visual language only - No written content required)
- Creation of digital presentations using PowerPoint
- Video creation and editing
- Design and updating of the Website. (Basic skills only)
- Create content of our sessions, services and programmes/projects, such as
- Photographic capture of visually engaging images
- Conducting short Instagram, Reels, YouTube and TikTok interviews/content
- Live streaming of events via mobile devices
- Creation of GIFs and QR codes

Main Responsibilities
- Representing Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone in all external interactions whilst gathering or communicating content

**Person Specification**:
**Education/Training/Qualifications**
- Professional qualification in digital/graphic design (Desirable)
- Literate and numerate (Essentials)

**Experience**:

- Experience of web visual content development and website management (Desirable)
- Experience of using digital design tools such as Adobe Suite of tools, Capcut, Canva, Wordpress, Mailchimp and Text Local (Desirable)

**Knowledge**:

- Knowledge of communications and marketing of services campaigns and appeals (Desirable)
- Understanding the power and use of brand and identity in communicating key messages to a variety of stakeholders (Desirable)
- Understanding of digital communications and developing social media output (Essential)
- Understanding of what makes marketing and communications effective for different audiences (Desirable)

**Skills**:

- Creative mindset
- Ability to design digital communications (Essential)
- Thorough and accurate with excellent attention to detail (Essential)
- Ability to work under own initiative and work collaboratively (Essential)
- Ability to handle a varied workload, react quickly, meet deadlines and prioritise tasks (Essential)

**Working hours**

The role is 37.5 hours per week, based at our Jubilee Street centre, Blackburn, BB1 1EP. Regular attendance at our Darwen site will also be required.

Normal office hours are 9 am to 5pm, but flexible working will be required to cover regular out-of-hours role tasks such as content capture during youth sessions.

One to two evening sessions per week will be required to enable the role holder to capture youth session content.

**Remuneration package**

Holidays: 33 days inclusive of 8 Bank Holidays (prorated for part time staff)

Pension: Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone operates a workplace pension scheme with Royal London for auto-enrolment purposes. You will contribute 5% of your gross earnings whilst the Youth Zone will contribute 3%. If you meet the criteria you will be auto-enrolled into the scheme within 3 months of commencement of your employment although you have the option to opt-out if you so wish.
