Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Lonza Full time

United Kingdom, Cambridge
- United Kingdom, SloughLaboratory Supervisor

Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

We have a great career opportunity for a colleague with a proven track record within a lab to take on a position as Laboratory Supervisor, managing the team responsible for service delivery to our colleagues in Slough. If you are someone who is keen to lead a team, possessing great organisational and problem solving skills, who can schedule activities within short timeframes and deal with unexpected challenges, then we’d love to hear from you

The Laboratory Support function provides services to analytical, microbiological, cell culture and purification scientists. Core service offerings include equipment calibration checks, stock management, buffer preparation and a variety of standard activities for the running of the laboratories, and so an effective Laboratory Supervisor is vital for the smooth running of our labs.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead, manage and develop the laboratory support team to assure effective operational performance
- Manage delivery of the agreed services encompassing process fulfillment against established deadlines and metrics.
- Act as the key contact for departments directly supported
- Define and drive innovation for services provided or requested across site
- Identify and manage individual and team training needs and development plans
- Motivate the team to work together, delivering high levels of “right first time” and adhering to compliance requirements, so that high laboratory standards are maintained
- Control and monitor consumable spend.
- Manage quality records and documents.
- Ensure the team embeds and exhibits adherence with Health and Safety regulations.

Key requirements:

- Significant Laboratory experience, understands what is required to maintain high standards at all times
- Proven track record within a lab environment
- Good understanding of GMP processes
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience will be advantageous

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
