**We are looking for works supervisors to join our forest craftsperson delivery teams throughout Ayrshire and surrounding areas.**

**Within this role, you’ll be very much field oriented, working on site supporting the team and contractors in current operations. You’ll also help the team deliver contract management requirements and provide mapping and planning updates.**

**Your key focus will be on ensuring our work meets stringent Health, Safety, Environmental and UKWAS requirements, as well as meeting our many clients needs.**
- **Relevant demonstratable experience outlined in cover letter**:

- **Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1)**:

- **Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment (PA6)**:

- **Level 2 award in safe use of brush-cutters and trimmers.**:

- **Mobile Phone with the ability to use Microsoft Teams and Avenza Maps.**:

- **Level 3 award in emergency first aid at work (in a forestry context 'known as +F')**:

- **Category B car licence held for 2+ years.**

**Below are some tasks you could find yourself completing**:

- Assist in the delivery of Health, Safety and Wellbeing and environmental management on site.
- Engage positively with forester, contractors, craftspeople and support them to deliver high quality operations through clear communication.
- Supervise forestry operations in line with current legislation and best practice to deliver the programme of work.
- Maintain effective communication between relevant teams (e.g., forester, contractors, craftspeople)
- Deliver good record keeping (e.g., site visits, progress reporting, stocks)
- Engage with and feed into wider projects.

**Our forest craftsperson teams**

Directly delivering, a variety of works which include but are not limited to tree planting, chemical and hand weeding and motor-manual tree crop maintenance across Ayrshire and the Central Belt.

These are physically demanding roles, often requiring working in remote areas and in all weather, The work is physically challenging, with lots of lifting, climbing and walking through densely wooded areas. Potentially hazardous work, requiring the use of power tools and heavy machinery. Protective clothing, such as hard hats, goggles, boots and specialist clothing may need to be worn for certain tasks.

The positions will require all tasks to be carried out through effective time management, flexibility, team working and with a readiness to accept responsibility when appropriate.

Due regard must always be paid to the care and maintenance of machinery and equipment, safeguarding of the environment and for the health and safety of oneself and others.

**Responsibilities**

**Deliver D&D Groundcare and Forestry's work programme with a particular focus on quality of output;**
- Deliver practical tasks for all D&D Groundcare and Forestry Ltd’s functions.
- Carry out allocated contracts as prioritised by D&D Groundcare and Forestry Ltd.
- Provide regular feedback to your Manager on progression with tasks and raise any issues at the earliest opportunity.

**Work to sustain a healthy working environment that supports physical and mental health**
- Work to ensure safety of self, co-workers and public at all times.

**Support other Teams/functions to deliver actions identified by D&D Groundcare and Forestry Ltd**
- Forest Management woodland creation delivery.
- Environmental works.
- Community engagement.
- Events and permissions.

**Job specific requirements (Desired, non essential)**
- Level 2 award in chainsaw maintenance
- Level 2 award in crosscutting timber using a chainsaw
- Level 2 award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm
- Level 2 award in safe use of forestry clearing saw
- Level 2 Certificate of Competence in All Terrain Vehicle Handling.

**Salary**: £12.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 45 per week

**Experience**:

- Forestry, Agriculture or Amenity: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- NPTC PA1 & PA6 Tickets (required)

- First Aid Certification +F (Forestry Certificate) (required)
- Full UK Category B Driving License 2+ Years (required)
