**WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE / FORKLIFT DRIVER**

**West Sussex Office Furniture Ltd, **are a manufacturing distributor in commercial office and educational furniture, based in Chichester.

We are looking for someone to join our busy Warehouse department, with the ability to be flexible should we require you to work in other departments, if the need arises.

**Please note, this role will involve standing for long periods and lifting heavy products.**

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- **Inspection of products**: conduct final quality control checks to ensure they meet standards. Report any defects or quality issues to the appropriate department and assist with corrective measures.
- **Storage of Products**: in designated areas, ensuring efficient use of space. This may involve operating a counterbalance forklift to store our products in our storage unit.
- **Distribution**: responsible for ensuring products are loaded (and match relevant paperwork) onto vehicles ready for distribution in a timely manner to our customers.
- **Safety & Compliance**: follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing correct PPE. Most importantly manual handling guidelines and asking for help where necessary.
- **Team Collaboration**: work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors / managers to achieve departmental goals and ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively and assist with training new team members / agency workers as needed.
- **Housekeeping**: maintain cleanliness and organisation in the warehouse including sweeping floors, disposing of waste properly, and keeping work area tidy. Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

**Additional Duties**:

- **Administration**:if and when required, cover Transport Manager’s basic administration duties.
- **Deliveries & Documentation**: prepare delivery documents, labels, and invoices for outgoing orders. Co-ordinate with delivery carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and track deliveries. Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and filed appropriately.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: perform routine maintenance and inspection of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and pallet shrink wrap machine. Report any malfunctions or damages to your manager and assist with coordinating repairs or replacements.

**Requirements**:

- Counterbalance Forklift Licence would be a distinct advantage.
- At least 1 years’ experience working in a Warehouse environment.
- Physical strength, fitness, and dexterity, as you will need to lift heavy packages.
- Excellent team-working skills to effectively collaborate with other members of staff.
- Have a can-do attitude and strive to meet deadlines and targets.
- The ability to work effectively under limited supervision.
- Excellent attendance and time keeping is essential.
- A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.

**Hours**: Mon - Fri 40.00-hour week

Flexible Working Week between the hours of 8am - 6pm

Overtime available during our busy months.

From time to time, you will be required to work longer than your contracted hours in order to achieve daily tasks, during our busiest months. This additional time can be paid as overtime (1.5 rate) or can be taken as time off in lieu.

**Breaks**: 1-hour unpaid lunch break

**Start**: ASAP
