St Helena Hospice is seeking a Matron, to work in the Hospice MDT team on a permanent contract. The role is for a 37.5 hours per week working on a standard working pattern of 8:00am 16:00pm.

We would welcome the opportunity for you to visit the Hospice, to see the many services we provide and to view our beautiful building and grounds. You will also have and opportunity team members.

Interview Date: 30/31 May 2023. Please note that there will be a presentation required at interview.

What we’re looking for

The key priorities of a Matron are:

- The post holder will have a key leadership role at senior level and provide specialist knowledge and skills to ensure the delivery of care within the inpatient unit as part of The Hospice Multidisciplinary Team
- Act as the Lead Patient Safety Specialist for the whole of St Helena clinical services, supporting a patient safety culture with clear systems in place to ensure senior management understanding of the issues that may exist and actions needed to be taken across the hospice in relation to patient safety.
- Act as a role model for all staff working within the service, demonstrating a professional and proactive approach, providing expert clinical practice and advice including the direct management of the Ward Sister and other MDT members.
- Lead the nursing team to deliver care that meets the CQC fundamental standards.
- Accountable for managing the control of expenditure within a defined budget working with the Head of Clinical Services to regularly review productivity and expenditure.
