Liverpool Clinical Laboratories wish to appoint a full-time Consultant Thoracic Pathologist based in the Department of Cellular Pathology at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. This post would be attractive to a consultant pathologist with experience in thoracic pathology who wishes to expand and develop their interest and expertise in this challenging and rapidly-developing area in a major centre with an established reputation for excellence in the field. This post is required to strengthen the existing team in the face of a workload which is inexorably increasing in volume and complexity.

The Thoracic Pathology team at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital provides a serviceviaLiverpool University Hospitals and the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and, in collaboration with the North West Genomic Laboratory Hub. One of the particular strengths of our service is our expertise in the genomic and proteomic profiling of non-small lung cancer in which capacity we enjoy an international reputation as a centre of excellence

The appointees will have a significant commitment to thoracic pathology where close collaboration exists between clinicians and pathologists.

Applicants seeking full time (10 PAs) or less than full time are encouraged to apply. Flexible and home working is supported by teams.

The successful applicant will be involved in the whole range of diagnostic work for the respective subspecialty and will also have an opportunity to contribute to teaching and training of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists and to research.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
