**Job purpose**:
At Nazareth House Care Village we are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our well established team in the Residential Home.

As Senior Healthcare Assistant you will need to be able to deliver a high standard of care for the elderly clients who reside in the residential unit of Nazareth House Care Village. This will be done in a way that includes the resident’s spiritual, emotional, physical and social needs.

The Senior Healthcare Assistant will need to be able to deliver care with a caring, open and responsive approach which enables the resident to make an informed choice in relation to their care.

The Senior Healthcare Assistant will need to have knowledge of and respect for each residents’ interests and preferred way of life by listening and responding to each of their suggestions.

**PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES**

To provide assistance and support to residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting in a dignified and respectful manner and by ensuring independence is promoted at all times.

To supervise a team of care assistants; ensuring they are providing safe and compassionate care.

To be in-charge of the unit in absence of the Deputy Manager / Residential Manager.

Medication administration.

Act as a Primary Carer for a small group of residents ensuring their risk assessments and care plans are kept under review.

To take personal responsibility of attending all mandatory training and in house training and ensure that you continue to expand your knowledge base and skills.

To ensure that you keep an up-to-date record of your training as per NISCC guidelines and RQIA standards.

To ensure that your NISCC registration is kept up to date.
