An exciting opportunity for a Junior Category Buyer has become available with a global manufacturing company based in Peterlee, on an 18-month contract.
As part of the purchasing team, you will be responsible for management of the supplier base for specific categories. The position may require frequent travel
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Being the primary contact between the Client and the supply base for global/regional initiatives, including commercial discussions/negotiations with suppliers.
- Being the recognised expert for your assigned portion of the global category.
- Support development and execution of global category strategies, and drive performance excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM).
- Act as the supplier lead for suppliers with multiple source buyers. This Supplier Lead will help to manage the supplier relationship for that supplier's location including but not limited to Supplier Relationship Management, supplier Performance Management,Cost Management, Risk Management, and Category Network Management
- This role is responsible and accountable for the development, and/or communication and implementation of a regional and worldwide sourcing strategy. Responsible for the development, management and execution of the global category strategy managing policies,agreements, source catalogues, and special procurement programs; and accountable for the liaison with the corresponding source buyers.
About you:
The successful applicant will have an undergraduate degree from a college or university - or equivalent experience in Procurement with demonstratable skills showcasing the use of 6 Sigma, Prince2 and Microsoft Project. You must demonstrate excellent communicationskills, both verbal and written. Good computer skills with the ability to produce project plans, presentations and excel analysis. You must be able to maintain strong business relationships at all levels across a multicultural global environment. Ideally youwill have some manufacturing experience.
