**Dispensary Assistant Responsible to**: Practice Manager Job Responsibilities: Dispensing acute and repeat medication safely and accurately Dispensing using the Emis computer system Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy Providing a repeat prescription service which includes taking requests by telephone, electronic requests, email and repeat slips. Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges when appropriate Sorting, counting and endorsing prescriptions Ordering appropriate quantities of goods via the wholesaler's computer link Checking goods as and when they are delivered Returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers Stocking shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas using rotation method Safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines
