Job Purpose

Accomplish manufacturing results through correct assembly of products, in accordance with production procedure and processes, to quality standards and in a timely fashion.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Follow instructions, training and guidance from Team Leaders and Supervisors and assemble electronic components, subassemblies, products, or systems to the appropriate quality standards as defined by the company.
- Read work orders, follow production drawings and sample assemblies to ensure items are assembled correctly.
- Check kits and tools required to complete assembly are present, with the correct parts and quantities.
- Position and align parts in specified order/relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device, as stated on assembly instructions.
- Measure, cut to length, strip and crimp cables and wires as specified by assembly instructions.
- Screw, bolt, rivet, solder, cement, press fit, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Connect component lead wires to printed circuit or route, and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points, using soldering or related bonding procedures and equipment.
- Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, and coating assemblies.
- Assemble and attach hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches, to assemblies.
- Install finished subassemblies in boxes and cases.
- Fit labels, panel overlays and markers to cable assemblies, units and boxes.
- Perform on-line go-not-go testing and inspection, using magnifying devices, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- Fill in relevant data sheets and product movement forms as per job requirements.
- Populate components such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets, on printed circuit board assemblies.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing department.
- Comply with the Health and Safety policy and procedures, and work in a manner that is safe for both yourself and colleagues, reporting all potential hazards, near misses and incidents to the supervisor or line manager.
- Other duties as and when required by the business following appropriate training and instruction.

Required experience, skill and knowledge
- Previous experience of working within Production or Assembly is essential and from within a similar electro-mechanical manufacturing environment would be desirable.
