As a Volunteer Driver, your primary responsibility is to pick up one to two older guests from their homes, ensuring they can join our tea parties. These gatherings occur on a monthly or fortnightly basis and are often the highlight of our guests' social calendar. For many, these tea parties are the only times they leave their homes for a social occasion.
**Position details**:
- As a volunteer driver you will drive one to two older guests to the tea party venue and safely return them home after the event, using your own car.
- Participate in the group activities, engage in conversation, and assist with serving refreshments.
- Collaborate with the group coordinator to coordinate the pickup schedule for activity guests.
- Keep the group coordinator informed of any concerns or issues that may arise during your service.

- Proficiency in active listening.
- Patience and a good sense of humor.
- A passion for improving the lives of lonely and isolated older individuals.
**About Us**:
At Re-engage, our mission is to combat loneliness among older people by uniting generations in friendship and shared experiences. We provide vital, life-enhancing social connections for older individuals, especially during a phase in their lives when their social circles tend to diminish.
**Requirements**:
- Completion of a DBS check (costs covered by Re-engage).
- A four-door car, a valid driver's license, and appropriate MOT and insurance.
- Regular contact with your assigned activity guests, ensuring their attendance and arranging convenient pickup times.
- Your primary contact will be the group coordinator, who will oversee the activity arrangements.
**What to expect**:
As a valued volunteer, you will receive training, support, and regular communication from our charity. This role offers you the opportunity to enhance your communication skills, gain valuable experience with a national charity, and, most importantly, make a real difference in the lives of lonely older individuals. While we regret that we are unable to cover your travel expenses, the rewards of this fulfilling role are immeasurable.
