Woking, United Kingdom Gordon's School Full time

Sport is an integral part of the School’s vision to be the best non-selective school in England and amongst the finest schools in the world. Academic success will gain young people their first job, or place at university; but it is the character acquired on the games field and in other co-curricular activities which will sustain them through life. With more than 90 teams, the School plays annually over 600 fixtures, across more than 20 sports.

In October 2020 Gordon’s announced the partnership with Harlequins FC to provide a pathway for promising rugby players. The initiative enables rugby players aged between 16 and 18 years old to train in an environment similar to that of a professional club, whilst receiving a first class education. The School supports players involved in the Harlequins Developing Player Programme (DPP), Surrey and Hampshire county squads, and Surrey Development Squads. Gordon’s School focuses upon the development of the core skills of all students. This allows players to play in any position on the pitch and thus produces complete rugby players. The School competes at local, regional, and national-level competitions, as well as a busy yet competitive domestic fixture list. Gordon’s School has reached the U18 NatWest Bowl Quarter-Finals. The School hosts a District 12-a-side tournament across all age groups.

Each season the boys’ Houses compete in the annual Inter-House Rugby tournament, which proves to be hugely popular. Each season eleven teams regularly play fixtures for the School, ranging from U18A through to U12C.At Gordon’s we believe our attitude is as important as our achievements. Character matters. Talent without ambition, self-discipline and humility is rarely fulfilled and does not inspire others. Win or lose, we want our teams and players to be good role models and mirror the qualities we seek from all our young people: courtesy, integrity, diligence, enthusiasm and resilience.
- Gordon’s School is a Boarding and Day School and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment - applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate screening including a DBS check._
