**Note - this is a fully office based role, and applicants must be drivers as the office is difficult to reach by public transport.**
**Description**
The Payroll Manager role involves:
**Payroll Management**
Efficiently manage the flow of new starters and leavers.
Ensure accurate payment of normal pay, overtime, casual hours, holidays & holiday pay, commissions and any other payroll payments.
Ensure accurate calculation of statutory payments, such as, SSP, SMP, SPP.
Manage pension schemes and payment of contributions to providers.
Prepare monthly payroll journals.
Prepare payroll control account reconciliations and maintain control accounts.
Liaise with HR, general managers, administrators and department heads.
Develop and update payroll procedures and systems.
Maintain payroll staff records and archiving.
**Reporting**
Complete all annual HMRC payroll reporting requirements including P35, P60, P11D returns and PAYE settlement returns.
Manage HMRC Real Time Information (RTI) and payment of PAYE.
Deal efficiently with HMRC correspondence, including tax code amendments.
Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports.
**Team Management**
With the payroll team, resolve all pay queries and adjustments.
Adhere to all guidelines and rules in the staff handbook.
Ensure good timekeeping within the payroll department.
Maintain and act on good standards of health and safety awareness.
Keeping abreast of law changes, tax directives and other information relating to payroll.
Perform relevant payroll related duties as requested by the CFO and Senior Management Team.
**Profile**
Experience
- A competent, confident and motivated payroll professional with extensive experience in a multi-site business with over 500 employees.
- Experience of either in house or outsourced payroll systems.
- Ability to take full responsibility to provide a full payroll service to the Group and its 1,000+ staff members.
- Experience in selection and implementation of HRIS and payroll systems will be advantageous.
- Experience of managing a team and prioritising workloads.
**Skills**:
- Technically up to date and keen to deliver results and improve processes.
- Good computer literacy (Including Intermediate Excel skills).
- Sage 50 Payroll system proficiency or equivalent desirable.
