As a Trainee Underwriter your main responsibility is **to assess our customers’ ability to afford a vehicle on finance.**

**Some specifics of our role**:

- Through great **questioning, listening** and **conversational** **skills** you will assess the customers **affordability** along with their **stability** and **intent**, to make a lending decision.
- You will take ownership and be expected to** efficiently handle inbound and outbound calls** for our customers, dealers and internal staff members (clear and confident telephone manner)
- You will **take ownership of your own performance**, recognise areas of improvement, and then put these improvements into practice with the support of your team and line manager.

**This role requires the following essential skills**:

- Can **view a problem as an opportunity** to investigate the customer experience, therefore **problem-solving** skills are essential
- You feel comfortable giving and receiving **feedback** and demonstrate our **open and honesty** value, whilst working as part of a team.
- Demonstrate **effective and clear communication**, allowing you to gain a **good rapport **with your colleagues, customers, and dealers. Having a proactive mindset will help you retain our customers.
- Demonstrate the ability to **multi-task and be proactive, **as you may be working on several customers’ accounts at the same time, therefore **organisation** and **time management** are essential in this role
- Have a clear and **confident telephone manner**:

- You must have the ability to **think outside the box,** when making decisions and understand that things **are not always** **black and white.**

**WORKING HOURS, PAY, TERM & LOCATION**

This is a **full-time **position where you will work **Monday to Friday**: 09.00-17.30, with o**ne day per week** (Tuesday or Thursday) you will work the **late shift**: 10.00-18.30. You will also be required to work **one in four Saturdays**: 10.00-16.00 (Plus Bank holidays where required)

**Location**:
Our Underwriting Team is based in our **Leigh Office (WN7 3XZ). **Currently we are trialling a hybrid working model, which will mean you will spend time working from the office and from home. In this role, you must have the flexibility to attend the office as and when required, this could range from 2 to 3 days a week to a full week whilst you are learning the role. It is important that you have the flexibility to come into the office on multiple days across the week.
