We require a versatile and self-motivated Mechanical Technician with a passion for working on heavy plant with excellent attention to detail.

Rail-Ability Limited (railability.co.uk) specializes in the modification & manufacture of bespoke plant, & equipment for the rail industry.

**Your duties**
- Sub-assemble and fit hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems from engineering drawings and build documents.
- Undertaking the refurbishment, repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of heavy plant and machinery. Scrutinising existing components to help determine their viability for repair and advising on preferred repair methods.
- Cut/Crimp Hydraulic hose assemblies to a build sheet or to a systems hydraulic circuit specification.
- Fault-finding and diagnostics of Engines, Electronic, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and mechanical systems on a range of heavy plant machinery projects, including disassembly and reassembly of components, replacement of wear, and single-use components as required.
- Assist our development team to design and build up hydraulic systems and mechanical prototypes to a requirements list as and when required.
- Nurture and coach the up-and-coming apprentices.
- Working with the management team to overcome engineering and production challenges.
- Perform tasks in varied environments, predominately workshop/bench-based, however elements of working outside, working at height, and/or in restricted access could occasionally be required.
- Apprenticeship in mechanical assembly or maintenance or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record in plant assembly or maintenance or off-highway machinery sector
- Highly safety minded, collaborative and team orientated.

**Benefits**

The hourly rate for the role is between £14 and £16. Flexible working hours; free on-site parking; Mentoring and training programs; staff discount at partnered restaurants; and more.

The normal hours of work are 42.5 hours; 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday with a half hour break. The option of flexitime is available.

Holiday entitlement starts at 28 days. You will then be able to achieve up to 10 additional days of paid time off each year. These 10 additional days will be achieved either through a flexitime policy where overtime can be banked to be taken as paid time off later or through the accrual of additional holiday of one day for each full year of service up to a maximum of 5 days holiday after 5 years’ service.
