About the role
A brilliant opportunity to join the Non-Food Technical Team working as a technologist within our Heath, Beauty & Wellness (HBW) category.

The role is an integral part of the beauty and toiletries (B&T) product categories and will be part of a team managing the delivery of safe, legal and responsibly sourced Tesco own label B&T products

We are looking for someone who is bright, has great attention to detail, loves working with product and is passionate about delivering for customers This role is perfect for those with 1+ years technical, regulatory or formulation experience within the cosmetics and toiletries industry and provides full training and support.

This role provides a great opportunity to stretch your horizons, work for the UK’s biggest retailer and develop skills and knowledge across a broad range of products from soap and shaving gel to cotton buds

You will be responsible for
- Working to ensure B&T products are safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the Tesco rules & policies
- Managing the delivery of technical aspects of the product development critical path
- Supporting the delivery of the responsible sourcing agenda across the supply base - monitoring ethical and technical audits and working with suppliers on corrective and preventative action plans.
- Managing CPNP and SCPN portals
- Working with Tesco’s cosmetics related policy (i.e Vegan, Animal Testing, Cosmetovigilance etc)
- Supporting the management of risk in our supply chains, from source, ingredients and raw materials, processing, manufacturing and Tesco routes to market (safety, business & reputational risks)
- Playing an active role in supplier strategy for B&T, ensuring we use the best suppliers & sources
- Supporting the development of supplier capability through collaborative engagement, setting clear goals and measuring progress. I do this by having Joint Quality Plans (JQPs) in place with all relevant suppliers
- Responding to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively, ensuring stakeholders are aware and relevant action is taken to protect customers and Tesco
- I challenge myself to learn new skills and keep abreast of the latest thinking in my industry to help drive innovation
- Following our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence. I speak up if something isn't right
- Acting as a Tesco representative visiting suppliers and sites (travel around UK and EU)

You will need
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Science
- Customer focus
- Driven and proactive
- To be personable/able to build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
- Analytical; able to interpret data and make decisions, even if all facts are not available
- Able to multitask and prioritise effectively
- To be agile and open minded in approach
- Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages
- Previous relevant experience in retail or the cosmetic industry is preferred but not essential
