Job description

Full Time - Fixed Term for 23 months

The Data Intelligence and Policy Team sits at the heart of the organisation and is responsible for our corporate policy and performance functions, data analysis and business intelligence, geospatial information and mapping and our relationships with the Voluntary and Community sectors. We also lead on cross cutting priorities including tackling inequality.

**About the role**

As a Community Project Officer you will be at the part of an exciting new initiative at the heart of the Council’s strategy for tackling inequality in Reading. Our two Place Based Working pilots will support residents in communities with the greatest need improve their life chances by taking a holistic, targeted and co designed approach to the way Council, community, and other public sector resources are deployed.

Working with a diverse range of stakeholders you will act as a focal point within the designated ward area for the activities of the Tackling Inequality Strategy; building new relationships that drive successful collaborative working. You will engage and connect with the local community to build trust and encourage participation in activities that best meet their needs.

You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you’ll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.

**About you**

You will have the passion and commitment to reduce the impact of deprivation and create self-sustaining local communities. With experience in community development and management and delivery of community-based projects, preferably within a setting of significant social need. You will be skilled in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver the Council’s Tackling Inequality Strategy objectives.
